Preparing You For A Profession

After completing our 10-week dental assistant courses, students will have learned the fundamental skills that are necessary to become a Dental Assistant. Students will also be educated on the appropriate chairside manner and compassion that it takes to succeed in this profession. Dental Assistants perform a broad scope of dental procedures and administrative functions under the supervision of dentists and dental hygienists.

Dental Assistants may perform the following services:

The work may include laboratory and clinical procedures, office duties, patient intake and education. Dental Assistants may work in private or group dental practices, general dentistry or dental specialties such as orthodontics, periodontics, children’s dentistry and other specialties. Dental Assisting can offer benefits beyond those that are offered in an average job including higher wages; paid vacations, holidays, and sick days; free dental care; profit sharing; and promotion opportunities. The work schedule can be full-time or part-time, providing flexibility in working hours. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of dental assistants is projected to grow 25 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Ongoing research linking oral health and general health will likely continue to increase the demand for preventive dental services.”
